Created for use in Unreal Tournament 2004. Fully modeled, rigged, animated, textured, and lit in Maya. Original concept sketches and character design by Delya The lack of a neck adds interesting animation capabilities. Taunts included him throwing his own head around like a basketball, spinning 5983984 degrees like Beetlejuice, and pretending to see around corners. Under 5000 polys. UV mapping done by hand... pelting style tools were used on the face and hands for experimental purposes. Ambient Occlusion used for the characters lighting (then used as a multiply layer over the diffuse texture in photoshop). Because the arms have identical UV's, to create proper occlusion, a dummy arm was created to shadow properly on the torso. I tried to keep the cartoony look while also making it fit in the game. This little bastards mean. This character was created in about 2 days. Delya created the texture files based on my UV map layout, for each team and non team color. |
